Suggestions castors on welding table

Luckily I have some very heavy duty castors which I would like to fit to my 500kg welding table.
It is already very high and I don't want it to move around so I would like to make the wheels detachable.

i will use a trolley jack in the middle to lift each end - then swing the castor down. Just to move around now and then.

Any suggestions of an easy and neat setup please.

Looking at the construction of your tables frame, would it not be easier, if you plan to move it so seldom, to put dollys underneath the frame when you plan to move it. Jack up as you mentioned, slide the dolly under each leg section at a time and lower the table on to it... just a thought.

That is possible - but I will probably shoved it around once a week so the less hassle the better. I never know when my next bit of junk will turn up

I know what you mean; I plan to put leveling plates and casters on my table, but I'm procrastinating as it'll be a big job. The frame on my table isn't all that robust - at least it doesn't look it, but the size of it ~8' in length makes it a bit of a nightmare prospect to move it.

I am not too worried about lifting it - I have trolley jacks and hi lifts for that - but some sort of hinged plate is what I was thinking. Any piccies of anything similar. I did try googling but most were over the top or junk!

Rockler make one for woodworkers that might give you some ideas.

2 bearings at one end as wheels minimum clearance on floor the other end a plate with a hole in the mover is another 2 of bearings on a frame that has the pin the handle is used as a lever lifts the non wheeled end remove the mover solid simples

The best detachable wheels are these...all my workshop machines sit in purpose made frames that this item moves easily...they can be picked up cheaply from the bay of fleas and will happily live outside under a tarp.

Similar idea to @MattH's but I used to see these quite regularly in the park on dog walks when I lived in Surrey.

Unfortunately not found a decent picture of the mechanism for you.

Fix a plate to the top of the castor and weld a length of 16 or 20 mm studding to it. Drill holes through box section and put studding through with a couple of nuts welded to frame top and bottom. Weld nut on top of studding for ratchet. Quick and easy.

I run a pallet shipping business - that is how I normally move things.
But this bench is awkward underneath and I just happened to have a set of high quality castors lying around!

In that case, presuming the other legs (not in the picture) have a cross brace, the only thing stopping you using a pallet truck, is the detritus on the floor under the bench, which we all have to some level....

Ahh but it would need 2x pallet trucks and 2 people.
And the mess is only temp - you should see the rest of it
