I use a -suction gun as well as -as pressurised pot in my cabinet. its a pain using the suction gun as most of the sand in the hopper is contaminated with paint flakes and crap after blasting wheels ect so ive made a new hopper for the suction gun out of a fire extinguisher the usual problems of pulsing have been sorted by making a choke tap on the outlet of hopper its a 22 mm gate valve that I drilled out and slid the output hose- through it and can be regulated with the wheel squeezing the pipe 
simple to make then I installed a tee piece further up the line with regulator tap on the end to alter the airflow entering the suction pipe . it works very well indeed with no problems and simple to make and adjust
