We've a posher version of that at work, an Italian thing about £250 you charge it up with a compressor, creating a vacuum, and it sucks your oil out, works a treat.

bought one of those donkeys years ago due to mangled sump plug on a mk1 iveco daily when I bought it , still in use , good tool.

Had mine about 2years and it's been sound, done 2 oil changes a year on both my vans and SWIMBO's car!

I use a 12v pump clear hose on end and the other dip in where you want to clear out switch on

just got a vaccum pump given was getting chucked out from a school 
Run the mower until warm.
Tip it over so that the oil filler is at the bottom.
Remove the filler cap and drain oil into a suitable container.
You may need to stick a block of wood under the side if the deck to get the last bit of oil out.
I worked for a busy repair shop and thats the way we did them When the oil is draining you change the plug, clean the carb bowl, blow out the jet, fit a new plug, lube the linkages plus sharpen the blade.
When all that's done the oil is drained. Back onto its wheels, refill with oil, service finished. When things went well you could do a service in 30 mins.

Mine worked fine on my old 2nd Gen Surf, but while the tubes fit down my 3rd Gen's dipstick tube, there's a narrow obstruction near the sump. I can get a bit of 4mm pneumatic tube through, but at that point, removing the sump plug is much quicker!

Mityvac are good, but with any of the manual oil vac machines you want the oil hot, as tube dia is so small it can take an age when oil is cold.

Normally 6l comes out via the sump plug and I measured what the pump takes out (via dipstick tube) and there's very little in it (less than 100ml).
Needs to be warmed up first though.
Made an adapter to run it off a Milwaukee M12 battery.

You don't need to spend any money, you can drain it like I suggested above but when did that stop the need to buy a tool.
I have a sealey oil sucker and its one of my better investments. It gets used for sucking fuel, brake fluid, water, etc.
It even gets used for sucking oil sometimes!
