Such thing as single phase guillotine?

Anyone came across a single phase guillotine, I can buy a cheap box and pan folder but could do with guillotine before I take the plunge! I’ve only a single phase supply, the treadle type only seem to cut up to 1.5 mm. I could do with one to cut 2mm mild steel up to 8ft length, anyone converted a 3 phase to single phase or does it lose power by doing this. Then my next problem will be getting it into the back garden somehow!!!

Thats a big ask, something hydraulic may be possible. Pressure is pressure so a single phase hydraulic power pack will do the job albeit slowly.Finding a decent hydraulic guillotine at sensible money will be a challenge,shuffling one up the garden path into a shed would be a bigger one.

Thought so, a fair bit of my work is 2mm chequer plate aluminium so I’m guessing I might get away with a treadle type guillotine just so I can still earn a few quid when I pack my full time job in. I’ve scraped together for all the small tools I need just the guillotine and folder left to go and then I’m living the dream!!! Thanks for replies

I had a 5ftish Edwards (or keetona I forget) guillotine, treadle operated,

That would do 3mm aluminium but it was like new and blades were sharp.
You had to put some weight behind it.

I bought a one a few years ago it worked off a pressure washer feeding hydraulic rams that moved the foot treadle.
It eventually it bent the foot pedal trying to cut long length of 1/4" plate.

A flywheel type converted to single phase has been done, but direct drive crank like a edwards true cut no way.
Dont get many if any small capacity hydraulic guillotines to convert to single phase.

as pressbrake says u need a flywheel operated machine but god knows where u'll find one now.......
should think they are almost collectable.....
do some reserch u may be able to convert a newer machine.....

for real heavy but compact flywheels they are used on the old style square bailers draged behind a tractor......
doesn't matter it it New Holland or Massey even John Deer.....but it is the old type bailer.....just guessing the flywheel will be around 50kgs
BUT if u do convert this flywheel will need some decent support and heavy duty bearings.....
on similat project in the past I use the double row rear wheel bearings used on cars.....Fiesta, Vauxhaul etc they are all much the same with a few diff sizes......
Ive even modified old Rear wheel drive 1/2 shafts to use the bearings and the shaft turned down to fit the job.....

all in all prob easyer to use a metal circ saw and the newer type straight edge guides.......
if u do make up a flywqheel type chopper please post the photos, a fewq people wqill be v/interested

If it's all straight edges on sheet material have you considered going plasma? Nice straight edge and away you go. 2mm isn't too much to ask of most plasma cutters.
