Try over £200 from Subaru for a length if wire and a couple if plugs, which is why he probably wants a different option.

VW want thick end of £1200 to fit a towbar to my new Tiguan......I was given £300 of "free" accesoories as a sweetner due to the delays etc..I said I will have a towbar until they told me the price....Im having one fitted by a reputable fitter (ive cleared them with the warranty) and its costing £340 inc VAT for the Alko Bar and full Electrics.......bit of difference

Don't get a Japanese import then....they absolutely love them.
