I just wanted to share a bad experience with you all in the hope that it serves as a reminder to the dangers & risks associated with welding.
Despite being well aware of said dangers & risks and usually always gearing up in the necessary safety clothes I allowed my enthusiasm (and trying to beat the rain) to get the better of me. Yesterday I was MIG welding some pieces together on the floor. I put on my hat , mask, cloak, gauntlets and safety shoes. I thought I'd covered everything....WRONG!! I forget to change out of my shorts and into some long trousers. As a result I'm now sporting a lovely purple and extremely painful left shin. I'll tell you, you've got to be so careful of arc-burn.
So you beginners (and even experienced welders) out there STOP, THINK & TAKE YOUR TIME. Do not allow yourselves to be rushed and make stupid mistakes such as this. Do not take things for granted and think you know it all like I did. There's no excuse.
