Today i was making a small crankshaft table lamp, crank in the lathe and bored a 10mm hole right through the centre without much bother...needed to put a hole through the bottom, 90 degree to the centre line to exit the cable. Hardened surface and no drill would touch it as expected
...Found a new 8mm masonry bit and it chewed through like butter at high speed with no coolant or lube needed, job done
. The same principle as those "wonder drills" on the shopping channels, just 2 sharp bits of carbide and plenty of spindle speed....
