Stud wall , timber or steel ...discuss

Well I started the prep for the new bathroom , what a grim job !
Turns it under the tiles is a backing board ... looks like asbestos cement too me !!!So bagged the bit I pulled off and will dampen down and wear a mask disposable overallls to remove the rest .

Ok I know the area should be cone off the immediate area and evacuate the street ..... just don't tell parm

The backer board Is just the bit behind the bath ...... hope you like the hardboard wall

Oh and I want too fit a pocket door in the new /modified stud wall I've see screwfix do a Henderson kit are theses any good you experienced chippys ??

how does it break ?

solid a git to break or easy to tap and cracks apart?

Fitted one. Ok for the pennies but always looks unfinished. I made a door lining to fit around the opening with a cut out for the door to slide through last time. Gave me something to architrave to as well.

Eclise are the best I've used. Top quality but a price to match.

Breaks pretty easily , I left the rest well alone until I get ppe , certainly looks like asbestos cement it's a 1950's house I think

its not what you think it is

it will more likely be plaster that wasnt bonded correctly to the wall and has seperated over time its about the right thinness of it though

Ive fitted a handful, also think they look unfinished. To make look good takes alot of effort.

In my own main bathroom i did CLS timber and then clad it with 18mm OSB and then plaster board, It is overkill but then i can fix anything anywhere.

Definatly not plaster it was screwed into the wall at the corners and the side facing the wall was grey in colour
