Stubs Welding Plasma 888

Hi all.
I've just acquired a Plasma Cutter with the label reading Stubs Welding Plasma 888.
(It also has a label on the back giving amps, volts etc, and its in German).

Does anyone have any information about this model at all? Looking for a manual ideally.
It does kind of work, but I think I'm doing something wrong as its inconsistent.

Its a 3-phase machine, with an inbuilt compressor. Its Huge, and looks like there's a provision for a gas bottle on the back too - don't know why - could it be a TIG machine as well?

Anyhow, any information would be great, basically, how to use it properly as its my first cutter.

Are you sure it's a plasma cutter and not a plasma welder (the clue's on the label)

Hmmm no, I'm not, but it was sold to me as a plasma cutter, and it looks to have a plasma cutting torch on the end.
You may be correct - are you speaking from experience of this machine, or surmising?

I recollect hearing the term "plasma welding" on here some time ago, Google turned up the Wikipedia link.

Probably for a Nitrogen bottle?

I think its is the same firm 500e. I've done some research and they were in Wolverhampton but closed r were taken over quite some time ago.

What would the nitrogen bottle be for Robotstar5? Protect the cut?

I've changed the nozzle on the torch and now it fires up and I get a continuous PLasma which does cut steel - yippee!
Now I need to get some consumables for it. Do the torches follow any kind of standard?
There are some spares with it which are labelled from ParWeld so I'll probably try them.

"Concept
Plasma arc welding is an arc welding process wherein coalescence is produced by the heat obtained from a constricted arc setup between a tungsten/alloy tungsten electrode and the water-cooled (constricting) nozzle (non-transferred arc) or between a tungsten/alloy tungsten electrode and the job (transferred arc). The process employs two inert gases, one forms the arc plasma and the second shields the arc plasma. Filler metal may or may not be added."

I suspect your unit uses air to to form the plasma (as in a plasma cutter) and the inert gas protects the weld as in MIG and TIG.

It looks like the unit can perform two functions, plasma cutter and plasma welder.
