Strange day!

today i tidied out our single garage bit on the end of my shed. And donated it to my other half, for all her farmy sh1t, quad, mower, animal food etc.

My boss also rang to tell me i still have a job and am not getting made redundant, this time round.

So this brings me to the real reason i posted, which one of these ....opinions please.

I've got a very similar Halford's set I bought 20 years ago. At the time exactly the same was sold by Machine Mart under Clarke name but the Halford's items were cheaper. Never had any problem with the runners etc but the black paint of drawer fronts is now starting to get surface rust - not bad for 20 years of abuse so they get my recommendation if the current range are same quality.

I have a Clarke HD bottom roll cab and it is brilliant. Had for about 10years and the roller bearings are like brand new but I have seen the Costco one and it is a quality bit of kit. I'd buy one myself if I had the space

The Costco stuff is generally pretty good, my wife bought me their tool trolley & that is exellent. If you have a problem, their customer service is first class.

I have the Costco chest which gets a big thumbs up.
I have the Halfords Pro red top chest which is not bad. Quality between the two is a close match (although I prefer the costco)

I cannot comment on the rest though.

The machine mart cabinet ****** all over the costco and halfrauds stuff. I have that top box and the seven drawer roller cab. It is however, not very rustproof. My roller cab has rusted to **Language** where it has been in a damp garage.

US PRO Tools is cheapo chinese nothing american about it.

Mmmmmm 11 replies, 11 different opinions....glad this is the biggest of my problems, apart from shovelling the 20 tons of top soil into the raised beds i built.

Well just an opinion as I only have a very secondhand and now abused by me set, it would be halfords or costco depending on quality when viewed, reason I say this is unless you use each draw to neatly lay spanners etc out in one layer you do need depth in some drawers for putting larger items and or lots of pieces, the drawers that are shallow soon get jammed if you put all but the slimmest items in them.ok if you fit foam inserts cut out to each tool shape.
Depends is it going to be a show piece or working tool chest that gets really used properly, and dont take that the wrong way anyone, I would love to have enough drawers to neatly lay out all assorted kit, but the drawers are just overflowing and all my tools need to earn their keep or out they go.
A bit differant if you are say a watchmaker I geuss! so dependant on what tools you have and intend to get I geuss really. Arther

P.S. Just been prompted by another post. Mine is the industrial Halfords not the pro as stated.
black finish and top class build quality.
