Having never got round to making a gas bottle log burner and the old VAT free flying about, my better half has mentioned she will buy one of these for my workshop.

It will be enough to take the chill off if needed but I notice it mentions..'not for coal'
My plans were for the rare occasion it is used, to throw some wood in and once burning some smokeless stuff...coke? which can be bought and stored in bags.
Is coal too hot for the base? will coke also be no good etc?
Anyone using one and knows the answer please.
