Are there any regulations regarding storage of argon bottles. My mum was talking to someone today who mentioned that there may be. Can I store my argon in a regular (deteched) garage?
Best to check with your insurer, as they are the ones to cough up in the event of possibly something untoward happening if for example, you had a fire in your garage. Argon expands......BOOM! Just remember to tell them it is inert and, if you get the ok to store/use it within your garage, get this in writing (I'm a tad cynical with insurance CO's)
Not 100% sure about this but i believe you have to have a sign on the premisis. On our little bit we have a sign on my uncles fence (he lives next door as such), which says 2WE, multihazard, multichemical or similar, that covers both our rear ends in terms of notification to the relevant authorities, should any of us have a fire
I was (reasonably) well informed by our local welding supplys, an ex messer supplier.. that your gas supplier has to provide a database of registered keepers of gas products to the relevent authorities.. so in case of fire etc they should be pre warned to take the correct action.
That got my insurance man worried. ...and will you be storing pressurised containers in the unit? Yes. How many? Minimum of 8. oxygen, acetylene, argon and propane.
The bloke looked as if i'd just asked him to store them under his kids bed. Didnt do my quotation much good either.
