Stitch function on my Tradesmig - any use ?

Hi,
My tradesmig 160 has a stitch function which I cannot see the point of ?

It has a neat spot weld function which will come in handy for my mini restoration, but the stitch function defeats me?
Surely the stitch function is just like pulling the trigger for a set time and then letting go for a set time. Its not exactly hard work

Why is this any use & where would I use it ?


Its not hindering me in any way, its just a function which Murex obviously included for a reason but I seem to be missing the point.

Any suggestions as to how I could make use of this ?

Depends how much stitch welding you have to do.
My Tradesmig 251 has it - not used very often. Good for puzzling you when the torch lead turns it on by accident....or ramps the wire speed up to full!

On my Rigas/Butters, the stitch doesn't have the contactor benging in and out, so that saves some wear and tear I guess.

Also, if you're trying to stitch something neatly, all you have to worry about is moving the torch at a consistent speed. The welder takes care of keeping the welds and the gaps the same.
