Hi all.
Got a bit of a nooby weld prob.
When using my nice new 170 SIP, I`m getting an annoying problem.
When stopping the trigger on the torch, the wire seems to continue to feed out for a faction of a second leaving an 1"/1-1/2" or so of wire sticking out of the torch.
Tried holding the torch closer to the work(1/4" inch away) and end up welding the tip.
Tried holding the torch further away from the work(1" away) and end up with a "poppy" sounding, and looking weld....if ya know what I mean...
If I fire the torch up with the excess wire layed over the weld, I get a long piece of wire stuck to the top of the start point of the weld.
Now this isnt an everytime occurance, maybe once every 3 or 4 tacks/welds.
Then again, sometimes it`s everytime.
It`s very annoying.
Could it be a welder/setting prob or a user technique prob ?
Point me in the right direction to help me with this before I wear out my snips
P.s. Using .6 mild wire with gas.
