Sticking rubber to steel

Rubber covered roller on a lawnmower , the rubber is lifting at the ends. What Of the current wonder adhesives would be good for squirting under the lifting ends ?

Contact adhesive will work, But you will have to find a way to keep the tw surfaces apart until they go tacky

Clearly anything that sets hard will fail/crack with movement. I use Granville rtv for this sort of application

Runny egg! sticks to everything

I reckon on sikaflex 221 or tiger seal for rubber to steel, bit spendy though for just sticking down a couple of corners and once opened it doesn't keep.

I'd epoxy it, contact adhesive would possibly be a better bond but it needs applying to both surfaces then allowing to dry before they come into contact so not really any good for this.

But on topic, @wristpin Whatever of the good suggestions ^^ you decide to try, ensure that the gap at the loose ends is a clean as humanly possibly [there'll be bits of grass, earth etc lurking in there ] or it's going to be difficult for the sticky stuff to do its job. [Sorry...Granny > eggs etc ]

Cold vulcanising cement, usually a 2 part system, used on conveyor belts and lagged head drums.

Scotch weld 1300L is the absolute dogs dangles of contact adhesives but only seems to come in litre tins.

It's very similar to the old Evo-stik before they changed to that fishy white enivro friendly rubbish.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don’t think that a contact adhesive is the way to go because the job doesn’t lend itself to being pulled apart far enough to apply to both surfaces.
Someone has suggested CT1 - anyone used it?

I've heard good things about CT1 though never used it because I've never seen it near me. It's a hybrid polymer sealant of which there are various brands.

I've used the Screwfix no nonsense hybrid sealant and it is very good.

it goes under the name of tec 7 and it sticks like sh t to a blanket just don't get it on your hands

CT1 is the mutts. Used throughout my big bathroom build. Top tip, wipe excess off with baby wipes. It's backing up the two M12 studs holding my wall hung WC on so had better be good! Best left for 72 hours to cure. The white CT1 mind can go a bit yellow. Near a tenner a tube though.

UK rep at C-Tec is a helpful chap too. They also do CT1 Power Grab and Bond, used that to stick ceramic tiles straight to marine ply.

Used Evo Stick The Dog's B@llocks a couple of months back to repair a neighbours cracked plastic oil tank. Cleaned the area first with IPA. Seems to have worked a treat.
