Steering pump replacement

Hi
I need a bit of help removing a steering pump hub from a tapered shaft.
As you can see the hub is held on by a nut and lock washer,which i have removed,
but even with pullers and a bit of heat it refuses to release.
The last image is of the new pump shaft .
Any advice would be welcome.

I did one Saturday for a friend, the pitman arm on his steering box from a f-350 in my 20 ton press.
We put my largest bearing splitter behind it, similar to these:

and we needed heat (a small amount), it came off with a bang (they always do)

Tension up the puller, then using a parllel or taper punch give the side of the adaptor a good clout with a hammer usually releases the drive collar, or a blow lamp to warm the collar.

Always used it on the Dowty hydraulic pumps on pallet trucks..

Sadly I havent access to a big press , but good to know a bit more pressure and heat might do the trick.
This is on a Fiat 80-90 tractor.

I would also suggest giving the puller spindle a whack with a hammer once it's tightened up.

This is on a Fiat 80-90 tractor.

I don't think you can get much more pressure from the jaw type, the splitter type can be rigged (there are tapped holes)
to use a puller screw like you have.

With those pullers a big jubilee clip tightened around both legs will help stop the legs spreading ( leave it @MattF ).

I have a generic 10ton puller but the legs are too thick to get a catch of the bottom of the hub,i might be able
to attach the leg fromthe screw puller,though i dont think the will stand a lot o pressure

those small stubby tapers can bit a right pain..what i have found works by loading the puller up to murderess tension and then get the heat on the stubb, 9 times out of 10 it will release with a bang so dont have your head over it.

Get it under tension then smack it with with two hammers simultaneously either side .

Leave the nut on loose, I've spent many an hour rooting around the workshop floor under benches looking for bits, that have shot off into the distance........

Well thanks again to everyone,
a combination of having the pullers murder tight,heat and hitting the hub simultaneously on
opposite sides with hammers did the trick.
Also good advice about putting the nut back on loosely to stop things disappearing across the shed.
