steel to alluminium

Hello all, i told you i would be back with more questions. How useful is this site, unbelievable. I have snapped the handle on my petrol mower and have found a suitable replacement apart from the fact that its aluminium. Is it possible to weld steel to aluminium. I have a bottle of argon c02 mix and a bottle of co2. Cheers David.

Can't think of any way it could be done. Though some type of glue might work if you have overlapping tubes. We've got an epoxy enthusiast on the site that might be able to help with selection.

Read something about some very new and expensive technology, probably hundreds of thousands of pounds, that will allow steel to ally.


But back to your mower handle, can you not bolt it through?

That'll be me then! I wouldn't glue it, nut 'n' bolt would be much better, or maybe pop rivets. Where/how's it broken? Show us a pic.
