Steel suppliers...worra they like!!!

Although I've 'retired' I have a few little jobs left to do so I ordered some steel from Higson Edwards in Liverpool. I said to the guy on the phone I need it clean and not rusty.

After paying for two sheets of 16g and £30 delivery ...it arrived on Wednesday...rusty all over. I told the driver to take it back and rang them up. The guy was very apologetic and said he get some out to me today.... Friday.

He's just rung me to say all their sheets are rusty!!! This is a very large steel stockist and they only have rusty steel sheet

Anyway I need it so he's giving it to me half price - but cant deliver until Monday ...then it's out with the cup brush

I know Gordon, and I could do without the extra work cleaning it up.... but not a lot of choice unfortunately.

Shame you can't go down there and pay cash, take a load of wet tenners

Don't think I've seen a spec of rust on any of the stock at my local which is good, downside is they seem experts at plucking prices out of thin air

No way! Not being peculiar but what sheet metal works is going to accept cleaning up sheets of more than very superficial rust?
How many customers except pitting in delivered work?

Much to my disbelief it arrived after lunch - the driver said it was on his wagon from 8 o clock!! The stuff he's brought is not as bad as the last time and I can live with it for half price...... it will be my last delivery anyway. When I rang them up to say it had been delivered he said 'blimey I must remember to cancel the Monday delivery' - right arm...left arm...?????
