Steel sheet

Been browsing a number of forums recently looking at peoples restoration projects (good motivation to get on with mine) and i keep coming across what looks like almost white steel sheet, im guessing its probably zintec sheet which got me thinking how easy it is to mark out with just a pencil or what not, lost track of the number of good pens i have knackered using them on oily sheet steel, anyway to my questions, if its not zintec then what is it, how easy is it to remove the zinc coating from zintec on surfaces to be welded or painted, thanks

I've never tried removing zintec before welding. It's generally not very thick, though - so shouldn't be too hard to get rid of.

Zintec marks easy enough with a normal pen, unless its got oily.
I tend to use a scriber though.

No need to remove the coating before welding, just take relevant precautions with the fume.
