Steel recommendations for steering arms

I'm building some steering arms for car front subspension looking for a ground flat machine steel finding it hard to get around 10mmby60mm
And also getting mixed messages on the exact grade to use as it needs to be welded

If it needs to be welded then you want something like EN16.
EN24T is strong but not the most weldable grade.

you could try getting some 4130. Will still need heat treatment in the thickness you want.

10x60 will be strong enough in mild steel for any car components and will be more forgiving than special grades if it bends instead of bending the next component along the line. Don't get carried away.

Is it bright mild steel ? It depends on what you are making and how tight the tolerances need to be but you need to take into consideration what you are using it for and the weight of the vehicle you are using it on.

Car is around 800kg I want to use a bright machine steel not the rounded hot rolled I want to tig it

Do you pre or post heat?

i always give it a bit of preheat. And then insulate it and let it cool As slowly as possible
