Steel prices

Just out of interest, what should a sheet of chequerplate (steel) 2x1m x 3mm and a full length 7.5m of 150x50x5 box cost. Was back last year, but I get the feeling I was royally bent over at the time (that`ll teach me to order things when on my head on morphine)

Haven't a clue but I can tell you we were paying 67quid a sheet for 2500x1250..9mm 304 DP1 Stainless Steel in may last year, just ordered some more and it was £37.10, but then we do use about 4-8 ton a month. And a sheet of 1.5mm zintec was £34, in Dec and is now £23.25. All plus VAT

Last year was incredible, prices going up and up every month.
A sheet of 3mm durbar, about £35/40? 50x150 box, preety dear, thats not a size that you see much of, probably got in for you special order, price wise no idea, £100?

If it makes any difference, it was the 8th May. And i`ve just checked, box section was 120x60x3mm. Was all in stock at time, but it`s already looking like I would have needed rather a lot of KY

Parkersteel website will give you an idea of prices, don't need to register to get 'random bloke off the street prices'- don't use much carbon steel myself so don't know how competetive they are though

Cheers folks, couldnt get a price for the RHS on parkersteel site though. Can`t find the invoice, but i have the bank statement, are we thinking 230.65 was maybe a little too much.

Thanks again hotrodder, might let them off then, 80 quid difference, but that was then, and this is now.

Weldingscotty could be right as i'm clueless on carbon steel prices- haven't bought any carbon for a couple of years as my world's mainly aluminium, stainless etc. However just checked their pricing for Al sheet and it was within a few quid of the 'standard rate' i'm paying at the moment
