steel plate in middlesbrough.

Hi, Does anyone know where I can get some 5 or 6mm plate in Middlesbrough/Teeside area. I need 300mm x 300mm x 5 or 6mm x 4 off.
Or one big peace I can cut into these sizes (with my new plasma cutter!).
New or used steel would be OK.

Try S.M. Thomson down by Newport Bridge. If it's just a small piece they may let you ransack the scrap skip.

If you can't get any from smt your best bet is to look up fabricators in yellow pages [but don't phone them] just call round & explain your self & if they have offcuts they're usually obliging ,I used to get stuff from francis browns at portrack lane & various others.

Good point: wander over to Concorde Way and have a word with boss-man Ray at Elmtree Fabs, he's a pleasant enough chap.
My dad used to get odd bits of plate etc. from a fabricators on Portrack Grange Road... but I can't think of the name!

Just got back from s.m. thomsons.
Thought I would go on a Saturday morning, less staff about, more chance of getting off cuts etc, for a few beer tokens. I was told to go back on Monday as they don't sell steel on a Saturday! Suppose I will ring them on Monday for a price on 300 x 300 x 5mm m/s plate 4 off.
