Steel container leaky roof

Just been in my steel container and it seems the roof has developed a leak, has anybody got experience of fixing them.

I've seen people try and fail in the past.

Is it definately a leak or simply condensation. I understand they can be prone to condensation.

No it all lined out to stop condensation, it's been a site office.

It's must be a leak but because it lined out I can't see ware it's coming from. So I think I need to do something to the whole roof to fix it for a long time.

The leak might not be where the water is coming from. Time to get on the roof and have a poke around

Is it definitely a shipping container or a portacabin ?
Is there a skylight ?
If you climb up on the roof be careful as you might find a weak area the hard way !
You can get brushable roofing sealant. Not the patch stuff but intended for the whole roof. I used it on a cracked felt roof and gave it a couple of years use before I could afford to have it redone properly.

Just had a look up there it's the first time in a few years. There's a few low spots where the roof is warped But one of the low spots has no standing water and looks scabby.

So I need to do something to eliminate the standing water and to repair the roof.

It its a "portocabin", many of them had a stretch rubber type sheet on them, the frequent lifting and moving to another site didnt do conventional roof coatings any good so they used the flexible rubber sheet on a sub roof to get over the problem. A container will have a steel roof, similar to the sides.

It's as shipping container that had Been converted to an office before I got it.

clean it all off, deal with any rust then go mad with bitumen sealant (the warm stuff if possible)

I've just repaired two containers that are been used as offices. The quickest and ultimately the cheapest is to over sheet it, forming a slight incline with battens. It will stop the water ingress, and make it cooler in summer

I'd go with the above,sheet it off for now wait till we get warmer dryer weather(if) then do any repairs etc

I think that sounds like a plan ile keep a look out for sum tin sheets

i have 2 containers,& have plated/welded 1 of them on the sides in a few places,easy peasy & extends the life a bit,also welded in some windows & intend to put a personnel door in 1 of them soon ,there made from 'CORTEN' STEEL ABOUT 2MM THICK to give some corrosion resistance yet readily weldable.

Thanks nickk I would have patched it but it's too far away from any electric.

clean it off then get a big old chunk of tar / bitumen melt it and spread it about
