I went to a farm auction on Tuesday, I hadn't been to one for a few years, and I was shocked by how cheap everything was going for! I am so used to eBay prices now it was refreshing to know that there are still bargains out there.
I ended up buying a really nice Foster Back Actor (a 3 point linkage digger arm to go on the back of the tractor) for £300 and a set of pallet forks to go on the loader for £30!
The same model Back Actor sold recently on eBay for £1600.
There was also a lathe, 6ft between centres with a massive collection of chucks, steadies, faceplates etc. for £120.
A 1 ton dumper in running order with good tyres for £180.
A Kawasaki 2wd quad for £600.
A Warco floor standing Pillar Drill for £60
A lot of the stuff was selling below scrap value.
I had to resist bidding on loafs of stuff.

I fancy that engine out of the Compton Castle, i remember seeing her at Totnes in the late 70's she had had her engines ripped out & been converted to a restaurant, Apparently she is still in existence as a shop of all things. Now theres a project. Need that lottery win though.

Isle of WIGHT - and last time I went, it was £110! for the ferry - 3 of us in a LWB transit.
And that was 10 years ago - god knows how much it'd be now.
