It looks 'modern' as opposed to 'classic' because it is all sharp edges rather than curves. If it was a Harrison (it is not), it would be more M300 era than L5 era.
The polygonal fingers are nice; the locking levers for the fingers are nice but the nut and washer to close the steady look cheap in comparison.
As well as Hood's European, maybe Taiwan is a possibility.
To the OP. Measure and report the centre height of it. Also see what threads (imperial or metric) are on the fasteners.
