startrite bandsaw with "blade welder"

What on earth is a blade welder attachment that this Startrite bandsaw has ? Can anyone tell me.

You can get blade welders. That allows you to buy reels of blades, cut them to length and weld them together.

Years ago the bandsaw we had at art college had a blade welder. They never let us play with it, but it seemed to work perfectly for the techies.

place i worked had one ,cut the blade square ,clamped both edges,welded ,had a grinding wheel to remove build up,and built in annealer......blades lasted well and welder worked great .............wish i had same on my horizontal bandsaw

Mines the one without the welder, best thing is you can work inside shapes, cut the band thread it through a hole in the work and weld the blade back together, dead handy

When i get a new bigger bandsaw (next year sniffle) a startrite toolroom saw with a blade welder is the dogs Id love to get

Hello,can any please tell me what thickness of blade i can weld up to on a startrire welder eg quater inch half inch 3 quater 1 inch
