starter problem

i have this battery starter(sealey 160) and found a loose electrical tem circled in red at the bottom right side,
does anybody know where it should be connected to?

have you put the connector block on ? if not and it was working before I doubt that is your problem

I think that is the bit, on top of the rectifier Andy
Is it a chocolate block connector ? somebody may have attached it to test the rectifier at some point ( which looks like it has had some stick over the years ) I dont like bouncing these around on their wheels on rough surfaces for that reason

Just to clarify, I meant it could HAVE been thermal protection. Didn't spot that part ontop of the rectifier this morning.
