Starchem SynStryp - how to use and how much?

It seems it still has DCM in it. In the past, when ive had neat dcm, it evaporates as soon as you look at it.

I presume these commercial brews have some sort of built-in binder to keep it in place etc?

I can't wrap the job in cling (vehical) so whats the best approach with it, and am I likely to need 5 ltrs or 50 ltrs to strip the 101?

A couple of 5ltr tubs is perfectly acceptable. I'll be there forever with poly disks.

It's a gel and similar to the old Nitromors. It will dry if left too long - either apply more or scrape off before that happens.

It does go off in the container after months/year(s) of storage.

Boiling point of 40c so I'd advise just buy what you will use this summer and buy another tin later in the year. Ideally its a winter job for that previously mentioned reason.

Brush it on, plastic sheet over the top will greatly extend its efficiency.
Be careful of tins, eye protection needed when opening as the lids can pop off with explosive force.

I'm sure you already know, it goes through gloves instantly, and then it will tingle. Change gloves immediately and attempt to do the job without splashing the gloves, its a difficult task!

Filter masks are not rated for DCM although I find they do prevent me getting a headache or smelling it, but 100% needs to be done outdoors. Preferably in the shade.

Score the surface with a stanley knife or rough it up with 40g disk, wet it up well AND cover with plastic sheet, leave overnight, what ever you do
don't peak at it under the sheet, it stops working.

No need to wait overnight, the dcm only lasts 30 mins to an hour at most. 30 mins then brush some more on.

Agreed with roughing up, but if it were me I would just use orbital sander 40grit discs back to metal and use dcm only for difficult areas, like the spokes of wheels.

I do personally like to grind it off with 40g on polishing machine for the big easy panels, just get down to factory primer, then orbital sand the primer off,
it's hard messy work, but it's quick, the intricate areas can be stripped chemically.
Best to do it somewhere the dust isn't a problem, respirator mask & overalls are essential, what ever method you use.
