I know you guys will be able to help me out. Only ever been used to migging mild steel (Kemppi adaptive 180) and am very pleased with the results even managing down to 0.5mm sheet,I am building a hog roaster and cladding the top canopy with 25 thou stainless sheet to a 20mm box section frame, I am using argoshield universal,WHY does it spatter so much when the mild steel does not spatter at all, I even remembered to set the Kemppi to the stainless setting

Not sure if its actually spattering more, but what i find, is it sticks to the stainless more than mild. Have you been using anti spatter spray?

Otherwise, can you turn down the wire a bit, (the smaller knob on them)

As mentioned in the thread Hitch has posted, too much in the way of active components in Argoshield Universal, an argon + 2.5%CO2 mix runs really sweet

Did not use any anti-spatter, the arc sound more harsh than mild steel,mild steel spatter almost non existent and any you do find just rubs off with a gloved hand, Is there a trade name for the argon+2.5% CO2? I believe the wire was 0.8mm 308.

P.S. I have some 10mm dia stainless rods to weld to some 1/2" thick stainless collars,will it be better to use stainless wire and universal argosheild or just use ER70s-6 mild wire

BOC call it Specshield 2.5%CO2
Air Products call it Innomax 2
Not sure about what Air Liquide call it
Don't think Energas do an equivalent but could be wrong
