I follow that one. At what point does that become an issue though? The attached picture is of what amounts to a steam chamber with a paddle shaft running through it. Everything is polished with abrasives, never had any issues. Some of the other stuff we build is spec'd to have all welds ground smooth. This is on food grade equipment. Obviously salt spray and exhaust aren't issues but the cleaners they use can be fairly nasty.
