Stainless material finish

I am looking to make some table legs in stainless, but curious to know the correct terminology to use with the stockist for the surface finish that I am after, or for that matter a reasonably priced stockist to begin with.

Looking at Paul's work in this picture, is this box section purchased as brushed finish or does it have another name?




I have never purchased stainless before, so any advice on material grade and finish would be much appreciated. The website of a localish supplier I am looking at lists Descaled and Dull Polished.

I have read Paul's instructions on how to repair/refinish around joints, but what material am I looking for to begin with.

Also is anyone has a recommended supplier (delivery/collection East Sussex) that would also be greatly appreciated.

That finish is called dull polish, some also call it brushed finish, that size material comes pre finished, descaled box section is usually over 80 x 40 in size, smaller than that will be DP.
Sheet is available in various finishes, dull polished is as per the box section,
you can also get satin polished, bright polished, and in some grades / thicknesses bright annealed which is almost mirror finish, just to confuse, softened and descaled is also called 2B.
Any stock holder will tell you whats available, dont worry too much about the terminology, they are used to people not quite knowing what they are asking for.
