Stainless and mild on car?

I've got a sheet of what i think is stainless steel. It's shiny and sparks with grinder but non magnetic.

I've cut battery tray out of mk4 escort as it was a little surface rusty underneathe and i'm smoothing the engine bay a bit.

I was wondering can i cut a flat piece of the 'stainless' and weld it in the whole in bulkhead with standard .8mm mig wire? I'll end up using a skim of filler over to finish the smooth look probs but not a problem.

I made a tool tray from same stuff for my creeper board when i got welder and it seemed to weld ok, but i want to make double sure as the project car means a lot to me and wants doing once only. i dont want to have to re do it after rebuilding the whole car!

If not, where can i get some sheet mild similar thickness to body panels? Im in Preston, Lancs.

Motor factors usually stock it. Not Halfords - that's a bike shop...

Lol true. Didnt think about motor factors, thought they'd only do replacement panels n stuff.

20guage is about £1.50 per sq foot. gonna buy some offcuts they have nice n cheap though.

Saying that, i do only need just under a sq foot if that for battery tray area, but it will come in handy for few other jobs i've got planned. They do decent range of guages too.

go direct to a steel stockist its cheaper if you buy from motor factors they add thier bit well they add their lot always cut out the middle man.
if you have no way to transport a full sheet the company will cut it for you aswell maybe a couple of quid extra but still cheaper ten the motor factor

im due to move this week coming so when i've got new workshop setup and some space set aside i'll order some then.

Got few offcuts nice n cheap from local factors we use. more than enough to do the couple jobs i need under bonnet.
