Right I'm knocking up this floor standing candelabra for the mother in law, I ordered up twisted bar and candleholders from DC Iron in Newcastle.
It's all going great guns, chopping, bending and welding. Never welded anything like this before I'm more used to Land Rovers and fabricating various brackets for the work, anyhoooo..
I really don't want to paint it matt black, both me and the wife have concurred that we like the bare metal colour, with the colours from the HAZ etc.
So how to protect it?
I'm thinking a very light clean up to remove any oxides etc, followed by a spray over with clear lacquer?
Possibly apply some Kurust or even a blueing compund to give it some variations in shade before lacquering?
How about varnish?
I welcome the thoughts from the panel of my esteemed learned fellow forumeers!
