rite we get the drift nowIt's part of the pipework on a supercharged 1967 Renault.
To make the shape I cut a square of steel and rounded the corners.
I tacked a 45 deg pipe bend to the square.
Covered with 25mm masking tape, sticky side out, then another layer sticky side in;
so that's sticky to sticky side.
Tapping the edges with a small hammer cuts the tape then a snip with scissors for the seam.
Open up and hold flat and you have what's known as a flexible patten.
Like this.

Lay template on a piece of stainless and mark round, dot punch line and cut out.
Bend to shape and weld seam, and its done.

nice job
I shall have to remember that one, wasn't so long ago I needed to make something very similar in steel, but the round end larger than the square.... used a piece of box, heated it a little and knocked a steel ball into it until it was the right size. Not quite so refined
How did you form it Paul, just malleted round on a bit of bar?

That look just like my missing steel rule! Post it back sharpish and we'll say no more about it![]()
If you can tell me the make, how long it is, and where you left it, I'll post.
30cm, eclipse and I left it in your tool box
