Square punch machine advice

Folks, some advice needed.

We have various LX cabinets coming through the door at the mo which need holes cut in them. Internal panels are fine - we can buy them in laser cut/cnc punched etc as required (or mark and drill zillions of holes), but if we need to cut holes - especially square ones for fans etc, using the usual range of tools in nicely painted expensive cabinets is not on, also the finishing/deburring time is an issue.

What we need is, I think, some sort of deep-throat square/rectangular manual punching machine with around 1.6mm capacity and a depth of a foot or so. I've seen such a thing on the bay of e before now, but can't remember any makers names.

Any suggestions as to where I might look?

Fans? What size 100x100 that's some punch for a manual

Stakesys do a hydraulic hole punch, that works from one side. Not sure if they do a sq punch for it, but Im sure you could mod a Qmax to fit.

I wasn't thinking of punching the holes in a one-er

The thing I saw on the bay cut a slot, something like 10 x 30 or 40, maybe.

Sorry can't help,we used to make our cabinets and powder coat after all the holes are cut ,on the rare instance we bought in panels and had to cut we used masking tape and a jigsaw...Will the fan covers not hide the cut outs?I'm assuming you have lots to do? RS do some hand dies here... hole punches I'm sure they can be purchased cheaper elsewhere...

Shox, that's probably what we'll end up with.
Al, the kind of thing I have in mind is a sort of deeper throat version of that Baileigh punch. I'm half inclined to make one...
Gav, the issues we have are keeping swarf to a minimum, making a clean job, and mostly, maximising output from a very limited number of lads. They've got a lot on but we won't be recruiting more people just now. They just want to go chop chop and have the job done.

Money is not (much of) a problem, within reason. Spends under a grand or so don't get questioned.

Get a tool to suit.

Job done. Less physically demanding than a completely manual press & built to last.

I think you'll struggle with purely arm powered otherwise.

greenlee also do a nice manual hydralic one that can do some fairly big holes and there is the sizes you need for control panels

We hired a hydrualic punch to put a load of 4"/100mm square holes in panels, just need to drill one hole, assemble the punch tool and pump! was quick and easy

Not cheap mind them big greenlee ones.

Used a monster punch puller thing on a load of stainless. No idea who supplies that kind of thing, multiform perhaps....
