square bumper mouldings

I have a need for a couple of approximately 100 mm square rubber, or similar, black moulded pads. I think I've seen something like this on a vehicle of some kind on the bumper but can't for the life of me think what!

One suggestion I can make is a boat trailer manufacturer, they use moulded rubber on the side keels of the trailer support arms, have seen them up to a metre long in various profiles.

I made a boat trailer a few years back and got my rubber pads from the local truck spares place, dirt cheap.

You can buy rubber in sheet form from RS for one, various sizes and thicknesses...

We used to cut them on a bandsaw for boat fittings, they cut nicely too.

Mmm, I'd wondered about getting some sheet rubber and machining it, not that I've tried it but isn't it difficult to machine to get a good finish?

So, the reason I'm after these pads is that we've just changed the car and the (very nearly) new one has had a different full sized registration plate on the front. Our private plate is quite short and has left the screw holes from the previous plate either side of the new one, hence the rubber pads and the need for them to look good.

I guess it could go into the body shop for filling/painting but if I can find the right things it should look ok
