spring steel for tines

im making a set of tines for a bucket on a compact tractor and im looking for a suplyer of sping steel
or do i just buy a bunch of cheep crowbars
iv searched ebay for tines and every think i find is ether to big or to small im after 400mm

I don't know if they are spring steel or something similar, but I would buy one as the proper ones are hellishly strong.
As to the size, just chop it down with a grinder placing a shallow angle to the cut to act as taper, and of course facing the right way when you tighten it! Or, I prefer to chop them once fitted. Bought in ones will already be a better shape along the entire length and will be better than home made,

Also, if you made your own you would need to find a way to fix it to the bucket, making your own taper, thread and suitable bush to weld into the bucket is a very large amount of work! And finally, you should use something that's a standard size anyway in case they get broken otherwise you'd have the hassle of making a new one again.

Do you mean TINES as in a land rake or bale spike, or do you mean TEETH ?

The bucket hasnt got any tapers on it to take tines so im looking at makeing a maifold for want of a better word that can bolt on and then tines that will attach to i.
The idear is to be able to take dead wood out of the bottem of hedges so i gess thay will be like small bale spikes
