Spreading the weight

Hi, I have a metal cabinet, 910mm wide x 485mm deep. made with 2mms thick metal ,with two reinforcing , channel sections ,under the top, running from side to side.
I want to fit another box 780mm wide x 410mms deep, on top. I was thinking to give a bit more reinforcement, either, putting a piece of 18mm plywood, the full size of bottom box , in between them.
Or putting two lengths of 50mm x 50mm x 6mm , across from side to side and sitting top box into these.
What do you think would be best solution to spread the weight?

Depends how much weight your going to put on it! If it's not too heavy I'd put ply on it, if its going to be heavy id think about adding legs and cross beams to fully support the top box.
