spraying varnish

I have bought some yacht varnish for a sculpture i have just finished and would like to know if i can spray it on rather than use a paintbrush, There are no instructions on the tin about spraying.what thinners would be suitable ?

Only a guess, I would think its an OIL based varnish, white spirit to retain the gloss or turps substitute if you dont mind the possibility of loosing a bit shine when it dries, its quite hard to spray "OIL" based stuff and not get runs, does the can not even say what to wash the brush out with? Or browse the manufacturers website.

You could dip a brush in and see if it washes off with white spirit or turps, or mix a bit up.

yeah id try white spirit if thats what cleans the brushes

put a 5p size dab onto an old plate or something and see if it mixes before going for the whole tin , i tend to go for a suck it and see method , try 10-15% ish and see if it sprays nice , add a dash more if need be until its to your liking

yes, its says whitespirits to clean brushes , will try a little bit first.

I have just been doing this, I diluted it a bit with white spirit and it worked a it, maybe a bit less than 20% cant remember, I just mixed some in.
