Spraying Rubber

Spraying the interior of a car ready to mount a harness for trackdays and there are two rubber seals around some wiring. How would I go about spraying them?

When I tried before the paint flaked off and made the clear coat go yellowy usign high build, paint then clearcoat.

afaik you cant.... well not effectively

I'll give it another go at masking them up, it's just a very awkward shape to stick, the tape doesn't want to stick. Thanks anyway.

Wipe the rubber first with panel wipe and use 3M tape.

If you very carefully coat the rubber with vaseline, the paint will rub off after it has dried, don't get any on the panels though! used to spray wheels with tyres on by painting the rubber with grease or liquid soap, quick, easy neat!

Is it poss to pop the rubber out of the panels, cover the wiring, then pop the rubber back when all's done?
