Spray gun for 1 off job

Hello illuminati,
What spray gun for a 1 off 1 k paint job on my swb land rover ? Have a compressor and a regulator , I can rig it so there is a basic water trap or two in the line , I have a garage , I am confident in the prep and masking ,only sprayin I have done is from rattle cans , I don't have loads to spend , the largest panel is the bonnet , door, all easily removable , cheers chaps ,

Really depends on the compressor. What tip will work with it. A spray gun is a spray gun tbh some feel a bit better than others in balance, your first will probably always be your go to. For a small compressor you want a gravity fed gun small orifice.

You need to be looking for a LVLP gun, like the Fast Mover FMT3006.

radiator roller with a foam pad can get very good results too ,,, depending on how fussy you are ,,,
I had a S2 that I did with an angle grinder and flap disc , then coach paint and a radiator roller , and it finished up way better than it sounds ,,, and a million times better than it started .

Nowhere near big enough to be painting car panels.

I'm using 2 200l 14cfm Compressors linked together and even then they struggle to keep up.

The FLG5 is a nice gun to use though

I use one of those cheap Chinese touch up guns with a 3hp compressor it rarely runs. How you lot manage to use a lot of air with a spray gun is a mystery. I used to use a Binks 222 and a Devilbiss, the compressor wasn't running a big lot when using them.

You certainly won't be doing any walk alongs with that. You'll be able to do it panel at a time. Might need to run a bit thinner to keep it wet while waiting for it to build back pressure. The trick is to not let the compressor cut out.

For me it's because I use an airfed mask and gunpressure set at 28psi

Id suggest the Ani F160 (full size) or R160 (mini gun), much better value at the same quality level and use less air. If its your first gun, you will likely want a bigger tip for primer ~1.8mm, and a smaller 1.2-1.4mm tip for base and clearcoat.

They also do a parts compatable budget gun which should be adequate for primer. I have the budget mini gun (gf3) and theres nothing much wrong with it. Same casting, lower quality nozzle kit, sprays fine. I havent used the f1/ns but imagine its the same.
