spray gun cup

Recently acquired an Iwata AZ40 gravity gun. Its a fantastic lightweight HTE top gun. However. It came with a 200cc cup. fantastic for touch up but would love to get a 600 cup. Having trolled the interweb, not got far. i can tell you it has a 1/4 BSP male thread though. Anyone help?

They're nearly all 1/4BSP I believe. Or do you want a genuine Iwata one

The gun sells with either a 200cc or 600cc cup. If you contact Iwata in the UK on 01480 405419 they will be able to help with spares (recently did this for a work colleague).

Alternatively, it's a good excuse to switch to 3M PPS system. Type 6 (part number 16007) should fit.

No I just want the volume. I have a cheap gravity gun with 600 pot and that seems to be 3/8. The bay of seems to list mostly 3/8 or 14mm fine in male

+ 3 for PPS. You don't have to buy 50 packs as some sellers will split packs for you. Have a search on ebay or phone stockists up until you find one who will.

Basically it's a disposable liner and filter cap which is fitted inside a outer container and plugs via an adaptor to your gravity fed gun.

Makes the gun far more flexible, you can use it upside down, Less clean up/mess, the outer cup has marks on it if you want to mix in the cup, if using non 2k paint tou can put a cap on the liner and save it for later.

I searched all over for information on this. What I found was less than helpful. Nowhere, apart from a sentence about "Fits virtually all guns on the market", could I find any reference to suction feed guns.
Reading between the lines, I take it that they mean "Any gun except a suction gun"!

The adapter situation is strange too. Nobody lists the adapters, except Ebay America. Neither of the two UK 3M suppliers that I looked up list them.

Refinish Systems lists the PPS adaptors.

I got mine and the other bits for the system from Refinish Systems. They had the full range and the best prices.

I don't think they will fit suction cups as the way they work (collapsing liner) would be inherently incompatible (tube in the way).

Ok so tell me if i'm right.
You need
one off adapter
one off mixing cup and collar
pack of disposable inserts and lids (c/w filter)
Anything else.
Wish it was available when i ran my bodyshop, it looks like a superb system as it negates the time for cleaning out, and mixing and filtering seperately.
Q: Can i justify the cost for amateur use though?
Q: What would be the best lid for met/mica?

The cups and collars come in a pack of two. They are as you say though resuable.

I would recommend a squirty bottle to put thinners in for cleaning. I got some sauce bottles off Amazon for not much more than a fiver.

It is worth it even for amateur use. I'm an amateur and it saves on wasting thinners and mess and time, so it's good value to me. Then again I am meticulous about cleaning. Once you have the setup I worked out it was cheaper to buy the PPS consumables than waste thinners and filters. But another big plus is that you no longer have vent holes in your cap blocking and messing up a paintjob, and you can spray upside down which opens up a whole new way of use if you are into restoration work.

I use the finer filters (120u) which seem to cope with metallic and epoxy primer no bother. I was told by an acquaintance that runs a big and professional bodyshop, that even 2k high build goes through that size filter OK too.

All good info for an ex pro old skoolie. Here what you say and solute you about cleaning, i got through gallons of gun wash. So do you still have to strip the gun in the traditional way to clean it out?

i do once a week but not after every job as i used to do

gets better all the time. And full respray with multi top ups? could you re use the liner or would it be a new one. i.e. how long would i be in the mixing room before continuing with the wet line?

for doing a full respray i mix the paint and fill up 3-4 liners, fit the lids and with the kits you get bungs for the hole that goes into top of gun, leave them on the side of my mixing bench, when one liner is empty i grab another, then just re fill the liners i have used when i have time between coats
