Spotwelder recommendations?

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a decent spot welder for use from a 13amp fused 240v mains supply?It is to be used on a mini restoration im on with at the moment using genuine panels so thickness will be 2 layers of about 0.8mm-ish thick sheet to be welded together.

There isn't one that will run from a 13amp fused supply Ross...you'll need 16amps minimum

can't find anything that says they need 16A supply, but they do state 16A requirement on some of their mig sets. This leaves me to think they may run on 13A.

worth an enquiry at least, as long as you are willing to pay that much.

I cant think of a more grown up way to put this other than.........Oh POO!

Looks like i might need to get a better supply sorted,i could do with an extra socket anyway so its not too bad.

why not just drill holes and plug weld? or for that matter is you dont have a problem spending nigh on £750 on a spot welder pay a body shop to put the mini back tgether after you have made all rhe repair patches

I will probably end up plug welding just thought i would investigate the spot welder as its less work finishing off afterwards and less prep at the start - just lazyness more than anything else

I refuse to pay people to do what i could do myself,im very stubborn like that and if i bought a decent bit of kit it can be used again in the future.That said,the cost of a decent spot welder is making my tightness kick in a touch!

What about the type that run on a MMA welder and spot weld from one side using a carbon rod.
