Spot what is wrong here.

I was asked to a friends house this morning, for a coffee.
She asked "why when I plug my hover into the extension lead it trips the power?"

I looked. I am in shock.
The extension lead was plugged into a multi-way plug adapter. There was a post on here a few weeks ago on why they are dangerous.

The double socket had in total 2 x 3 way adapters. All powering equipment and the extension lead what was for the Computer station.

In total 9 x 3 pin plugs, the 14th being spare for the hover.



This is what I found.

Yes, the 3 pin adapter is cooked, along with the wiring.
Lucky for my friend the sparky who wired the hose left enough to do a re make of the connections.

I have pointed her in the direction to get more sockets fitted and the breaker replaced.

Interesting that the neutral has overheated, it's usually the live because heat is generated around the fuse as cheap plugs tend to have poor quality fuseholders.

It's all rumours spread by Electricians wanting to add extra sockets for you.

One of my MK wall sockets has a burn mark on it from the fuseholder overheating in the cheap 13A plug fitted to a Clarke 3k heater, the socket is fine. Decent plug fitted and no problems since even in the same outlet.
