spot weld removal

i have some body panels for my vw camper that i would like to seperate,
there are lots of factory spot welds,
is a hss spot weld drill bit the best bet ..?

which should i buy...

Yep,them are the type i use,but dont over drill them,otherwise they go dull,either that use some form of cutting lube

i have one of these type, never could get the thing to stay still while you try drill.
maybe you have to put a small hole in the centre to keep it there?
i gave up with it in the end

I've had exactly the same experience, but a pilot hole helps!

How hard is it to grind
an 8mm drill to the right shape to cut spot welds out..?

I bought a cobalt 8mm spot weld drill made by dormer, been very good. I do find that a small drill to start an indent in the centre helps a lot.
Just don't buy cheap drills as they don't last, and cobalt drills are much better wearing than hss.
