Spoiler Respray

Hi may sound a bit stupid but i am wondering what sort of paint would be sutiable for a vauxhall vxr spoiler and a set of four wheels.
i have an apprentice ship in a bodyshop but i have not been told how to paint plastic i am doing it for a mate of mine.
Any comments Please?

First we need more info. Is the spoiler new, in primer in colour needing re colour, same for the alloys.

The car is new it has had no work being done to it no primer nothing factory fresh the owner just wants a colour change the spoiler is white the wheels are black but he wants it all in gloss black the wheels at the moment are satin black.

No primer? Confused now. I believe you are probably saying the wheels and spoiler are top coated? if so they have been primed. If this is correct, just flat back 800, panel wipe, tack and top coat with 2k.

Sorry about the confusion I mean the spoiler and wheels have only been painted by the factory no one else has worked on it not me yet I am pretty sure they are primed.

Flat and refinish then. i.e key the top coat only. Grey scotch brite will be ideal.

your comment you havent painted any plastic yet...so youve painted other stuff?

just key the paint as you would any other painted panel and on with some 2 pack paint , id suggest 400 dry /800 wet

What I mean is that I have only been painting metal panels as part of my apprenticeship I have not been taught yet on painting plastics but anyway thanks for the info and merry Christmas : D

Sorry once again for bothering you one more question would cellulose work just wondering

It will work on the spoiler but it wont last as long as 2k. Wheels, dont even consider it unless you want to re do it in 6 months time, the brake dust will kill them.

Thanks it's just that I do not want spray 2k in my area because of the fumes I have a air fed mask but don't want complaints from the neighbours lol
But anyway thanks for the info.

Cellulose smells more than any paint I have used, presume because of high solvent content. If you have airfed just use 2k unless garage is linked to house. But I wouldn't paint wheels with anything else.

why would the neighbours complain they wont even know. ive sprayed a few out in the street where i used to live by the time the mist has traveled a few yards it will have dispersed

id not want someone painting my new car with cellulose ..might suit an old banger but its not very durable
