Split charge.....................Help......

Sup folkes its been a wile since I was last here and malcolm my has this site grown!!

Right cut the crap recently bought a split charge relay as I intend to install a second battery to my car to stop my compressers draining the main batery.

What I need to know is how do I wire it?

Its a lancer products split charge relay with very poor fag packet type instructions.

I will try and take some pix in the morning as I'm a liittle inebreated tonight....

Depends which type it is - 1) operated from the alternator warning light or 2) voltage sensing

Could do with some more information, but this might well be of help

I used a 130 amp relay. This gets triggered from a 30 amp relay which gets fed from battery charge light from alternator to dash. My batterys are separate until engine is started and charge light goes out.

Again thanks for your help chaps but there is one thing puzling me.

Its the red wire thats puzling me,
I'm not using a fridge I'm running three compressers do I wire them to this via relays or tape it up and run my comps from the second battery???

I'd be inclined to use the red wire to drive a big relay to run the compressors, like wot Lexi does. Take the power from the main battery via the big relay contacts to power the winches.

The red and dark green wires will both be live when the engine is running, but disconnected from each other when stopped so the fridge doesn't drain either of the batteries.

eh? just run the comps from the socket as per the diagram, no need to tape up the red wire, the fridge label in the wiring diagram is just an example.
