If it's a uni thing you may need to find out how they want it doing - they may want to see you convert feet to miles and seconds to hours, i know when I did my hnc they quite often wanted workings out shown. (They may not, in which case ignore that!)

this is quite a stupid question, not dissimilar to the stuff I did in hnc. basically 2 identical masses moving towards each other on the same line, both at a different, but constant speed. when they collide the one moving faster will over power the slower, and the total mass of both will continue for a short time in the direction of the heaviest, I have to work out what speed in mph they will be travelling, but have to calculate with fps. pretty much just a way to try and make people slip up, as its sort of a maths/physics test to see who needs what help and so on when dealing with forces, theres also a bit about moments and a bit about loading on beams, nothing major just not something I want to get wrong. coincidentally the loading on beams question is identical in every way to the notes I have from btec mechanics, same numbers and everything so that will be a fairly simple copying mission lol

No time to work that out on a bike, the speedo is irrelevant, if you need to, look at the rev counter.

yeah, just couldn't remember if fps to mph was 0.68182 or something else. so far this course has been pretty basic maths, a bit of mild physics such as calculations like f=ma and so on. seems to be getting consistently harder and a lot more fun now though.

When I studied mech eng in the good old imperial days, the way we were taught to remind us was 60 mph equates to 88 fps or as previously stated a ratio of 0.681818 recurring.
To answer the other poser Newton Law states a body will continue in its state of rest or uniform motion unless acted upon by a greater outward impressed force.
