Somehow I managed to break a tip off in the neck of my Sip migmate 150 Turbo. Does anyone know where I can get a new swan neck for this welder, it's about four years old . I've been doing a lot of upside down welding under the car and seem to be constantly overheating the tip and sticking the wire to the shroud/tip with blobs of molten weld only this time when I went to unscrew the tip it snapped off flush with the neck. Bit of a bugger really as I need to get on with finishing this up and am now stuffed for the rest of the weekend. I was halfway through building my new bump stop bracket.

Ideally I need somewhere mail order or local to Bury/Burnley/Bolton.

I think Halfords are distributors of SIP, and they're open on sundays?

Your local factors should be open half day sunday.

Halfords just double and ad more to the price.
Plus the dude behind the counter only knows what he has read.

Round ere its d ward auto or snowballs.....

Every town has a specialists weld suply store.

Take your trigger apart and you may be able to remove the little critter.

Oh and try turning your wire speed up a tad it will stop the burn back.............

Yeah, I'd just put a new reel of wire in and for some reason the feed rollers had got greasy and started slipping hence the burn back. I'll buy from anyone if it means getting the thing up and running quickly, I'm not proud!

I did the same thing - the tip expands when it's hot, so the thread gets tight. They say never change a tip until it's cooled down, but it's so tempting to do it and get on with the job.

I drilled mine out (there is a handy hole down the middle to center the drill) and then picked the bits out ot the thread with a pointy tool.

Take at look at my items on eBay (under weldequip). The 'CLARKE Hobby Mig Torch Swan-Neck Assembly' @£8.95 post free will fit your machine, providing it has the Brass Gas Valve block inside the torch handle (secured in with a little grub screw). The current models of SIP use a one piece neck & gas valve assembly which are fairly expensive & not as good as the earlier brass type as you have to replace the whole assembly, not just the neck. SIP tell you that the earlier brass gas valve type is obsolete & you have to buy a conversion kit to the new one piece style. Well they AIN't! I have the brass gas valves in stock & also carry thousands of other spare parts, being a specialised dealer with 15+ years in the job!

I had no idea that sort of part was available. Very useful - thanks for that. If I'd known the brass gas switch was available it's have saved me buying a whole new low quality replacement Clarke torch and cord from Machine Mart. Guess how much.

But oh no - an AC tig on the same page! I shall look away now (I've wanted one for ages but can't justify spending the money for what would just be a toy for me).

Thanks for that, I ended up having to get the newer style gas valve and swan neck in one but have kept the old gas valve so can always swap it back if I cock it up again! They've now apparently gone to a plastic valve and only sell the whole torch welder to tip at about sixty quid, total rip off.

There is always the possibilty, if the valve is brass, to re-thread it to accomodate a different swan neck, I myself have not tried this, but if I was pushed to it I would have ago.
Maybe someone on the forum has already done this?

It's not threaded, the swan neck just slips in and is held in by a grub screw.
