I assume that's a Lincoln Invertec V140-S..... Are you certain it is the socket that is at fault? Test with a brand-new plug. Dinse panel-mounted sockets are available, such as items 250729318184 or 220779408153 on eBay U.K. You probably need the smaller 10-to-25 mm2 size.

I've ordered a pair of new Dinse lead plugs, the small ones, which should be 11/32" internal diameter. One of mine will accept the shank of a 9mm drill, but I think you're right when you suggest that that new plugs will do the trick...
Another question, I need to know what type of TIG torch to buy. I see different types and I'm lost basically, some seem to have a 2 pin mains lead, what's that for?
I'm an absolute "TIGinner", I'm Ok with oxy-acetylene and Arc, and can't wait to get started with TIG.....
